ANNISTON, Ala., August 21, 2024 – Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc. and trusted manufacturer in the waterworks industry, proudly welcomed seven interns this summer across various departments. As school resumes this fall, these interns are re-entering the classroom with valuable experience in their field of study.

Citing positive interactions and career development, the interns’ sentiments speak to Tyler Union as a workplace with a great environment and opportunities to grow one’s skills. Internships not only benefit interns themselves, though, as Tyler Union management notes strong benefits.

 “Interns bring fresh perspectives, diverse ideas and a willingness to learn,” says Tyler Union Human Resources Manager, Sinipriya Appu. “Internships can also promote community involvement and presence through teaching the prospective workforce and having an impact.”

Environmental Intern, Ashley Lacy, shared, “Honestly, I’ve loved everything about being [at Tyler Union]. Starting this internship has been a whole new experience to me… but the environmental team has been amazing in helping me in every way they can! The people here have made the entire experience of coming to a new area feel so welcoming, and I am so glad to have Tyler Union be the place of my first internship.” 

Accounting Intern, Brandon Angel, shared, “My internship has allowed me to apply what I've learned and gain some real-world experience in my field. It has also given me the chance to see how all different parts of a company interact with each other and function effectively as a whole. What I've enjoyed the most about the program has been the people and the environment created at Tyler Union. It’s welcoming and has motivated me to do the best work I can.”

Safety Intern, Connor George, shared, “My internship in the safety department at Tyler Union has been very beneficial for my career development. Working on tasks such as conducting safety training, creating training PowerPoints, performing safety audits and completing a traffic study has greatly improved my skills and understanding of the Occupational Safety career path. These hands-on experiences have provided me with valuable knowledge about safety procedures and management, which are crucial for my future career.”

Safety Intern, Dalton McElroy, shared, This internship at Tyler Union has been incredibly enriching in terms of practical skills and professional growth. I've had the opportunity to delve into real-world projects, which has sharpened my problem-solving abilities and deepened my understanding of corporate dynamics. Working alongside seasoned professionals has given me valuable insights into industry best practices and effective teamwork, setting a solid foundation for my future career.” 

Communications Intern, Daniel Rich, shared, “This internship has given me an opportunity to strengthen my skills in the communications field and learn from people with invaluable experience. Gaining such a grounded understanding of how communications can play a direct role not just externally, but internally as well, has been an educational experience I’m not sure I could have gotten anywhere else.”

IT Intern, Denzel Stinson shared, “This internship has equipped me with practical skills that textbooks alone can’t provide. I’ve learned to think on my feet, adapt to unexpected challenges and collaborate effectively with colleagues. I appreciate how my supervisors encouraged curiosity and allowed me to explore beyond my immediate responsibilities. Plus, witnessing the impact of a well-functioning network—where emails flowed seamlessly, servers hummed quietly and users remained blissfully unaware of the intricate dance behind the scenes—was incredibly satisfying.”

Project Engineering Intern, Isaac Walker, shared,My internship experience at Tyler Union has taught me real world applications of concepts we are taught in the classroom. My favorite part of the internship was the camaraderie among my coworkers. We learned a lot and accomplished our goals together, but we had a good time. I enjoyed coming to work each day.”
