Kennedy Valve recently had two opportunities to connect with and empower the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers.
Two classes from the Greater Southern Tier Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) New Visions Academy visited Kennedy Valve for a facility tour led by Value Stream Manager (Finishing) Calvin Mayo and Value Stream Manager (Foundry) Nick Rouille.
On March 20, The Horseheads Intermediate School hosted a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Night. The event was held in the school's cafeteria, where students and families could gather to visit with different local STEM-related businesses.
Kennedy Valve Production Design Engineer Garrett Johnson and Engineer Technician Kandise Perkins set up a table at the event, sharing and demonstrating their knowledge of Kennedy Valve products.
“It’s important to show students how the concepts they learn in school apply to real-world engineering and manufacturing,” said Johnson. “At Kennedy Valve, we take pride in what we do, and events like this allow us to inspire young minds, spark curiosity and encourage them to explore careers in STEM. Seeing their enthusiasm and interest in our work was a rewarding experience.”
