Michael J. Gaston joined the McWane family of companies in 2018 and currently serves as Vice President of Fabricated Metals and Real Estate.
Prior to this appointment, Michael served as Director of Information Technology Integration. In that role, he focused on driving the integration and optimization of corporate-wide IT projects to create organizational value. He led key initiatives including Dynamics 365 implementations, Data Warehouse adoption through Power BI analytics, and leading the Dynamics ERP support team.
Before joining the McWane Corporate team, Michael held multiple leadership roles at Amerex Corporation. He began his tenure as a Projects Engineer, moving to Fabrication & Process Improvement Manager, and later served as Product Manager for Kitchen and Industrial Systems. During his time at Amerex, Michael was the internal lead for several major technology process changes and upgrades.
Prior to joining McWane, Michael spent nearly a decade in the energy industry. He managed the Equipment and Controls group at Kinder Morgan, leading technical service across the Southeast. Earlier in his career, he held engineering and planning roles at EP Energy and Southern Natural Gas, focusing on pipeline system optimization and reliability.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering with high honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the Georgia Tech Rowing team. He also holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance and data analytics summa cum laude from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Michael is an Eagle Scout and remains passionate about the outdoors and active in the local scouting community, leading a local scout pack. He and his wife reside in Birmingham with their three children.
