Kennedy Valve recently served as a sponsor of the annual Made in Southern Tier Manufacturing Day Expo, held at Corning Community College’s satellite campus in Big Flats, New York. Organized by the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce, connected more than 600 students from 17 local schools with representatives from 25 regional manufacturers. The expo is held each October in recognition of National Manufacturing Day to help students explore career paths close to home while strengthening relationships between local industry and education partners.
Participating companies included Siemens Energy, FM Howell, The Hilliard Corporation, CAF USA, Chemung Supply, Southern Tier Custom Fabricators and Nucor Vulcraft.
Engineer Caleb Tuttle was quoted in The Star-Gazette, an Elmira newspaper, highlighting the facility's vital role in developing the next generation of manufacturing talent.
“It’s important for us to ensure the next generation of future workers and try to recruit some local talent,” Tuttle said. “A lot of kids don’t know anything about Kennedy Valve. It helps us promote our role. We’re very excited to be here.”
