Manchester Tank’s Joe Donahue Finishes the Chicago Marathon

After a year of training to get in shape for a full marathon by running in 5K’s, 10K’s and half marathons, Manchester Tank’s own Joe Donahue recently participated in and completed the Chicago Marathon.  The race was special to Joe because he ran with his three daughters, his brother and his sister.  They all ran at different paces, but they were there at the finish line to cheer each other on to a strong finish.

Joe said, “Once you complete your half marathon, you know whether you can take the next step to do the full marathon.  Running a marathon is all about understanding pace and how to pace yourself for the whole 26.2 miles.  Too many people burn out early and do not make it to the finish.”

Joe doesn’t consider his pace a fast pace, usually a 12-15 minute mile for the longer runs.  He just enjoys being outside and staying active.  Sounds like Joe has reached what is more commonly referred to as “runner’s high” which is a natural state of euphoria while running.  Running gives Joe an opportunity to forget about everyone except just enjoying being outdoors with the added health benefits derived from running.

Congratulations Joe!
