Team members from Kennedy Valve attended the 24th Annual Tribute to Women Awards Luncheon on June 5 where three awards were presented to women who have gone above and beyond helping others and the community.

The Kelly Stage Memorial Scholarship went to Elmira High School senior Emily Butler who is active in her church and serves her community in various volunteer services. The Professional Woman Award went to Karen Dooderum. Karen is a Senior Partner of Chemung County Neighborhood Legal Services and Legal Assistance of Western New York. She has been helping thousands of low-income clients and their families with civil and legal issues since 1984. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Hazel Thompson who has served the Elmira community for 70 years. Hazel was a nurse at Kennedy Valve many years ago. She is 101 years young and stills serves her community by volunteering for the American Red Cross, Alzheimer’s Walk and Meals on Wheels among many others.
