Clow Canada received an award entitled "Why Didn't I Think of That?" in the 2012 McWane Pollution Prevention Challenge (P2C) Competition late last year. The Saint John Team reduced its xylene consumption and VOC emissions by over 30%  in 2012 compared to 2011. This was done by reusing the xylene where possible and by purchasing a new more efficient airless spray gun. These changes saved over $13,000 in waste disposal and procurement costs and an additional $12,000 in production costs.

Additional benefits include significant increase in productivity by using the new airless gun to paint pipe; less VOC's in the shop thus better air quality; 50 percent less material handling when painting pipes; reduced material handling (xylene and paint); increased team effort between all painters and members of the P2C team.

P2C Team members were Dan Ouetlette, Rick Clayton, Beckie Morrell, Bob Williams, Ken Matthews,  K en McGavney, Stephanie Rolf.
